Nowadays, the reduction of the size of the basic printed circuit board will reach half or the quarter of the original size. The extremely thin wires that designers couldn't use before are now the mainstream, and the thinnest wire with 75 micrometers (3 mils) has gradually been reduced to 30 micrometers (1.2 mils) or even thinner.
Manufacturers of a sophisticated microcircuit can be divided into four groups. The first group is in the Asian area, which has developed the unique thin wire process for phones or iPods and can arrange wires of 40-50 micrometers. The second group consists of the research and development companies of limited numbers which produce small numbers of very professional circuits with thin wires of less than 40 micrometers.
The third group is expanding its business of large and medium-sized PCB with the highest speed. They provide a little output with wires of 75-40 micrometers in width, and they can produce several thousand within weeks. At last, the fourth group produce PCB normally with the wires of 125-75 micrometers and includes a large number of manufacturers and participants.
As the microelectronics business expands, more and more PCB companies find out the necessary technology in producing the very thin wires with a width of 40 micrometers, and even less than it, circuit designers need to be familiar with the new design rules and the merits and demerits of microelectronics manufacturing.

An inverter PCB usually is the PCB with multi-inputs and high-voltage outputs. Also, because of the high voltage, many clients require components of inverted PCBs, such as inverter transformers, PCBs, and output sockets, which are products of Underwriters Laboratories recognized materials or products with corresponding fire resistance. In this way, safety can be guaranteed.
Right now, according to China Compulsory Certification, there are several aspects to consider during the safety evaluation of inverter PCBs:
Temperature Rise: testing whether there will be extremely high temperatures which can be potential threats to human safety and normal operation, in components, be it in normal operation or in single fault.
Fireproofing: testing whether the inner components like inverter transformers and PCBs, which can easily generate high temperatures, are fireproof or not, or testing their fireproofing ability so that an inverted PCB can prevent itself from the ignition and be the cushion and prevention of the spread of fire when other components are on fire.
Dielectric Withstanding Voltage: testing whether the insulation of the inverter transformer can withstand the high voltage and won’t let the high voltage affect the low-voltage input.
Current-limiting Circuit: inverter PCBs produce high voltage and power modulator tubes of the LCD panel. However, there exists the possibility that the user may touch the voltage generated by inverters when the LCD is broken. In such a condition, we cannot directly lower the output voltage but limit the current to secure users’ safety. Therefore, tests based on the current limiting circuit are especially important during a product safety test.
