There is talk of a Game of Thrones movie and Martin is among those who have lobbied utfifas for concluding the series with a feature film. "Sure, I love the idea. Why not?" he said. "What fantasist would not love the idea of going out with an epic hundred million feature film? The audience is there for such a movie. If we build it, they will come. But will we build it? I have no bloody idea."

HBO head Lombardo has said a film is unlikely because it means changing the rules for HBO subscribers, who expect the fee to take them to the end of the story. He says: "I feel that on some level [a movie] would be changing the rules: Now you have to pay $16 to see how your show ends."

Game of Thrones gives Eastenders a run for its money when it comes to wedding drama: you can be pretty certain that a wedding in Westeros will end badly. In season 3 we lost the King of the North (Robb Stark), his pregnant wife and his mother at the infamous Red Wedding and season 4 saw another set of nuptials go awry when King Joffrey was poisoned at his 'Purple wedding' to Margaery Tyrell.

Joffrey's uncle, Tyrion, was immediately accused of poisoning the King and was sentenced to stand trial for his murder. After losing in court, he faced trial by combat. Seeking to avenge the death of his sister, Oberyn Martell agreed to be Tyrion's champion and fight on his behalf.

Oberyn appeared to be winning the fight with The Mountain until his (literally) eye-popping end. All seemed lost for Tyrion, until Lord Varys helped him escape the dungeon where he was held. On his way out of King's Landing Tyrion killed Shae, the consorthe thought loved him, but who actually betrayed him and his father, Tywin.

The four surviving Stark children (not including the illegitimate Jon Snow) have gone their separate ways. Arya spent the majority of season 4 being kidnapped/begrudgingly travelling with The Hound, before leaving him to die and sailing off to Braavos. Sansa escaped from King's Landing thanks to Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger), only to risk being murdered by her aunt Lysa, who saw her kissing Baelish. Then she looked on as Baelish killed Lysa.

Bran spent season 4 north of The Wall searching for the Three-Eyed Raven with Jojen, www.utfifas.co Meera and Hodor. Their journey was treacherous: they were saved by Jon Snow and the Night's Watch before Jojen died. In the end they found the Three-Eyed Raven (which was actually an old man whose body was fused to the roots of a tree) and Bran was told that he will never walk again but "will fly".
